So, I now have a google reader account and am receiving lots of great information from the 5 feeds I set up.  There were 3 links that I already scanned and starred since I could see great ways I can use them in my classroom.  I can also already see the benefit of having the latest news come to me rather than me having to search for it.  Any time saver is a great thing!

One item that I starred was about survival.  It covers the nine rules for survival if you are lost in the woods.  My class reads Hatchet by Gary Paulsen each year and we do several activities about surviving in the woods since this is what the main character, Brian, must do.  I love the outdoors- my husband and I hike, camp, and backpack, so I like to share what I have learned from my time in the woods as well.  This will be a handy site to share with my students.

Another site that I really liked was about Corrie ten Boom.   This is a site about Corrie ten Boom, her family, and her homesite that is now a museum.  I share information from her book The Hiding Place when we study Nazi Germany and WW II.

The third site was a virtual dig in a site by National Geographic.  Students choose their tools and start uncovering one of 3 creatures from the past.  What fun!

I know this is just the tip of the iceberg as of the other tools I am learning.  I am pretty excited about the places we can go this year using these.
